Move your feet to the Street Dance Network

Summer’s here and the time is right/For dancing in the streets. Those lyrics from Motown legends Martha and the Vandellas have been taken to heart by the Street Dance Network, the UK’s premier hub for contemporary street dancing.

Of course, you need tons of practice before you can bust out your moves in Leicester Square. That’s why you’ll find all kinds of dance workshops in the events tab.  For beginners who don’t know their popping from their locking, there’s Hip Hop Summer School in Manchester. More advanced dancers might want to check out Jamie’s open classes on Friday nights.

In case you happened to miss the Sunshine troupe’s first performance ever, this little slice of history is forever preserved in the videos tab, along with a bunch of other great clips. I’m a big fan of this performance by ZooYouth, which uses dance to caution against bullying in school.

Still just bursting onto the scene, the Street Dance Network has already attracted 750 b-boys and b-girls from across the UK. If you thought krumping was strictly West Coast, think again!
